I create colorful nature-inspired, botanical-themed mixed media art that brings people a sense of joy and lightness.
In my studio in Winsted, Connecticut I also host classes and workshops where I teach people how to make their own happy art.
My love affair with floral-themed art goes all the way back to my childhood experiments with wax paper, melted crayons, and leaf rubbings!
These days I still love messy art play – whether I’m painting with acrylics, carving stencils, piecing together a collage, or trying a new resist technique.
I’ve also always been fascinated by how different cultures depict nature. Look closely at my artwork and you’ll see textures, patterns and marks inspired by different art forms such as Japanese sashiko, Indian korma, and Islamic botanical motifs.
In making art I connect with my intuition, puzzle through life’s mysteries, and soothe my spirit. When I begin a new artwork, I often have only a vague idea of the image I am trying to conjure or the message that wants to emerge.
And that for me is where the joy lies: Art and art-making can bring wondrous beauty and unexpected bliss.
Kinda’ like flowers, don’t you agree?
